Interviews with Athena Loredo and Walker Williams

As a part of The Score course, Matheus Moraes conducted interviews with Athena Loredo and Walker Williams, who composed responses to works by Olivia Whetung and Diamond Point, respectively. You can listen to these interviews below.

Matheus Moraes is a trumpet player and a Doctoral Fellow currently enrolled in the Doctor of Musical Arts program at the University of British Columbia. He received his B.Mus. in Trumpet from Rio de Janeiro Federal University under the tutelage of David Alves, and his M.Mus. degree in Orchestral Instrument from the University of British Columbia under Larry Knopp. 

Matheus’s participation in festivals encompass the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Institute, UBC BrassFest!, and the National Academy Orchestra of Canada. Performances in Canada include a guest soloist performance in the Cantando festival, the premiere concert of the Vancouver Brass Orchestra, Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, Surrey City Orchestra, the Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, among others.

Alongside his teaching, Matheus’ mentorship has involved acting as brass coach for the UBC Concert Winds program. He currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Vancouver Brass Collective, and is both a founding member of the Vancouver Brass Orchestra and a substitute performer with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
